2007 California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS)

See the statistics regarding CASTRO VALLEY youth use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. Students in grades 5, 7, 9, and 11 participate in a survey every 2 years called the California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS).  Every school district in California is required to conduct the survey in order to comply with the No Child Left Behind Act, Title IV. The results monitor progress toward promoting youth well being and student success.

In 2007 Castro Valley 32% of 11th graders reported using alcohol in the last 30 days, and 58% used alcohol or other drugs at least once in their life.
